Transgenerational effects and temperature variation alter life history traits of the moon jellyfish

Understanding the life history strategy of organisms is key to predicting their population dynamics. The scyphozoan jellyfish has displayed an increasing trend in recent decades, yet its not fully understood. To interpret reproduction from evolutionary ecology perspective, we dissected 10 asexual generations Aurelia coerulea polyps investigate relationships between transgenerational effects on budding and strobilation. Our results reveal that a polyp’s average rate declined 32.82% through within experimental time. Furthermore, longer culture duration counteracted rates strobilation afterward. Thus, this effort provides insight into necessity sexual involving metagenic cycle, i.e., renew ability population.
